Lifeguard Training

Are you 15 or older and looking for a great summer job or a challenging career? American Red Cross Lifeguarding is the best place to start! Lifeguarding puts you in an exciting position, working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water. You could save a life too!

The American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course makes learning fun and easy. Through classroom learning and hands-on practice, you'll learn:

Surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries
Rescue skills - in the water and on land
Professional rescuer CPR/AED training
First aid training
Professional lifeguard responsibilities

Prerequisites:

Minimum age of 15. (Must turn 15 by the end of the course)
Swim 300 yards continuously using each of the following strokes for at least 100 yards: crawl, breaststroke, and sidestroke.
Swim 20 yards and submerge to a minimum depth of 7 - 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object and return to starting point and exit the water without using a ladder or steps [1minute 40 second time limit].

Cost:

Tuition for all lifeguarding classses is $225, which includes all necessary student manuals as well as a CPR pocket mask.
